A veneer of perfection, an image put forward by the matriarch of the family- Making an Impression pokes fun at the absurdity of this notion. The obsoleteness of an object or room that is never to be used, is a silly concept, and this body of work examines the humorous side of outdated cultural traditions such as these.
The artist has recreated the fine tableware inherited from her mother, representing the intricate designs of the metalworking through the delicate medium of lace, bringing to light the reality of womanhood in Ireland, both the absurdity and hardships examined through these works.
