I have a bit of a fascination with the islands off the west coast of Ireland. As a child I remember visiting Dursey- a small Island off the southwest coast with a population of 4. I was always captivated by the historical remnants which remained on this and the other Islands reminding us of our ancestors and connecting us with our past. A few years ago I made a trip to Skellig Mhicil, an island off the Kerry coast with a monastery which still stands but dates back to the 6th century AD. This is truly one of the most inspiring places I have ever been.
