Threading the Tower was a community lace project and collaboration between artist Fiona Harrington, The Irish Crochet Lace Revival and lacemakers and lace enthusiasts living in and connected to the Clondalkin area of Dublin. The aim was to shine a light on the rich history of crochet lace making in the area and to revive interest among local people.

More than 40 women contributed crochet lace squares from all over Ireland, the UK, the US and Canada and each square was delicately hand stitches to a coper wire frame by the artist. The Irish Crochet Lace revival and Fiona ran a number of workshops and presentation over the 18 month period to encourage people to get involved and to teach the skills needed
