These paintings were created while I was living on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork for an exhibition which took place at Duncannon Arts Centre in Co. Waterford in 2006. I had developed a bit of a fascination with moss and trees. At this time I was interested in observing tiny details and isolating them. These observations were then enlarged onto canvas completely altering the context. My aim was to highlight the intricacy of pattern which exists even in the tiniest of details in nature. These are so often overlooked but are in fact so incredible if we just take the time to stop and look.
